«Currently, some courses offer all Reiki levels, including the master level, in a single day or weekend. While this is technically possible, the quality of the training is often significantly lacking: In conversations with some students who had received such training, I found that they were confused after the course and didn’t really understand how to offer a treatment or perform an initiation; some even didn’t know the symbols and were unaware of who Dr. Usui was. Yet, they had received a certificate as a Reiki Master!
Those who receive such training without proper preparation or interaction with other practitioners believe that the way they learned Reiki is also the correct method for teaching it; since they are authorized to teach, they in turn conduct courses that prove to be even less effective. In this way, people receive training that does not truly do justice to either Reiki or the students.»
